Sound familiar?

None of these is a big deal on its own. Together they make the last week of the month tighter than the first.

You’re not the only one.

  • 74% say recurring monthly charges are easy to forget.
  • 42% have forgotten about a subscription they were still paying for.
  • 2.5× the gap between what people think they spend on subscriptions and what they actually spend.

Source: C+R Research, survey of 1,000 consumers, 2022. Spend gap also reported by CNBC, 2022. Figures are US-sourced.

Before I started Renevo, I never knew how much I had left for the month, or what was still pending. I built it so I could see both at a glance.

What Renevo does today.

Everything below works in Renevo now, in any browser. What we’re still building is listed at the end, so you know which is which.

A month with Renevo.

October, one day at a time. The card works the numbers out the way Renevo does: pay, minus bills, goals and what you’ve spent, shared over the days that are left.

  1. 1 October · Payday

€2,400 comes in. Bills and goals go first.

Rent, bills and subscriptions for the month take €1,190, and €400 is kept back for your goals before anything else. The €810 that’s left is yours to spend: €26.13 a day.

  2. 3 October · A heads-up

    Netflix renews on Tuesday.

You hear about it three days before, again the day before, and on the day. Enough time to decide whether you still want it.

  3. 10 October · A big Saturday

Dinner out and a new jacket: €160.

Nothing locks and nothing turns red. The rest of the month shares what’s left, so from Sunday it’s €20.00 a day instead of €26.

  4. 19 October · Halfway

The day you used to avoid checking.

€260 left for 13 days. One number, no spreadsheet, and no logging in to your bank to work it out.

  5. 31 October · Last day

€20 left for today, and the goal money is still there.

The €400 for your goals was never in the number you were spending from. November starts the same way.

iOS appSoon

The iPhone app is coming.

Renevo runs in any browser today, on a phone as well as a desktop, and nothing is missing there. The native iOS app is being built now: the same account, the same numbers, with the parts that only a phone can do properly.

  • Safe to Spend on the lock screen

A widget with today’s number, so checking costs one glance and no app.

  • Snap a receipt as you leave

The camera goes straight to the scanner. No upload step, no waiting until you are home.

  • Renewal alerts that actually arrive

Push notifications before a charge lands, not an email you read three days later.

  • Face ID and offline reading

Locked behind your face, and readable on a plane. Entries sync when you are back.

Your account carries over. Nothing to migrate when the app lands.

Renevo on iPhone: Home shows €1,204.43 safe to spend until 19 Oct, up 27% on last month, a six-month trend, 65% of income committed, and this week’s notes: a Duolingo trial ending and Spotify renewing. Figures are illustrative.

Questions

[email protected]
Is the free plan really free?

Yes, permanently. The Free plan includes the whole budgeting and expense engine (Safe to Spend, savings goals, reports, statement import) plus up to 5 tracked subscriptions. There is no card required and no expiry. Pro exists for people who want unlimited subscriptions and the automated expense tools. It is not a wall the free plan eventually hits.

How does subscription detection actually work?

Most banks let you download a statement as a CSV or Excel file. Import it into Renevo and it picks out the charges that repeat, and you decide what each one becomes: a subscription, a fixed bill, or nothing. The file is read in your browser, and nothing is saved until you confirm. PDF statements cannot be read. If you would rather not import anything, you can add subscriptions manually and everything else still works.

Can Renevo connect to my bank?

Not yet. Connecting your bank is on the roadmap. Until then Renevo works from statement imports and what you enter yourself, which is why the app is built to be useful without a bank connection rather than dependent on one.

Is my data safe?

Every connection is encrypted, and sensitive details such as your income, notes and stored credentials are encrypted with AES-256. Renevo is run from Cyprus under EU law and GDPR, and you can export or delete your data whenever you want. We never sell your data or use it for advertising; the services that help run Renevo are named in the privacy policy.

What does “Safe to Spend” actually mean?

It is one number that answers one question: what can I spend today without breaking the month? Renevo takes your income, subtracts your bills, your subscriptions and the money you have committed to savings goals, subtracts what you have already spent this month, then divides what is left across the days remaining. It updates every day. If you spend more on Tuesday, the days after get a little less.

Can I track cash and paper receipts?

Yes. Cash spending takes a few seconds to add by hand. Pro adds an AI scanner that reads a receipt’s total, date and merchant and picks a category, but Pro is not on sale yet. This matters because cash is exactly the money that usually disappears from tracking apps.

Does Renevo handle multiple currencies?

Renevo is euro-first, built for the eurozone rather than adapted to it. You can record subscriptions and transactions in other currencies too, and Renevo converts them to euro for your totals. If most of your money is outside the euro, Renevo will work but it will not be at its best yet, and we would rather tell you that now.

Where are you based?

Renevo is run from Cyprus and works under EU law and GDPR. A few of the services it relies on are based in the US; the privacy policy names each one and the safeguards used.
