How to cancel Basic-Fit

In My Basic-Fit

1. Sign in to My Basic-Fit on the website or in the app.
2. Open Manage membership (Lidmaatschap beheren / Mitgliedschaft verwalten) and choose Cancel membership.
3. Follow the steps; the screen shows the date the membership ends, which is the later of the 4-week notice and the minimum term.
4. Keep the confirmation email. You can undo the cancellation in My Basic-Fit before the end date.

At the club, or in writing

1. Use the orange self-service kiosk in any Basic-Fit club and choose cancel membership; take a photo of the confirmation.
2. Or write to customer service by email or post with your name, membership number and date of birth. Netherlands: [email protected] or Postbus 3124, 2130 KC Hoofddorp. Other countries: the contact address on basic-fit.com for your country.

Before you cancel

Notice period

4 weeks. With a 52-week minimum term the cancellation takes effect at the end of that term at the earliest; after the minimum term, every 4 weeks. The Flex option (extra fee) allows cancelling before each 4-week period.

Refunds

No refund of the remaining term. The 14-day withdrawal right applies to a membership signed online.

Worth knowing

• Billing is every 4 weeks, so a year has 13 payments. Budget on that, not on 12.
• The notice period is counted from when Basic-Fit receives the cancellation, so cancel at least 4 weeks before the end of the minimum term or you pay another 4 weeks.
• Freezing (pausing) the membership extends the contract by the frozen period; it is not a cancellation.
• In Germany, contracts signed since March 2022 run month to month after the first year and can be ended with one month’s notice; Basic-Fit’s 4-week cycle is within that.
• Moving house is generally not a valid reason for early termination; long-term illness with a doctor’s note, or pregnancy, usually is.

Your rights in the EU

In Germany, § 312k BGB requires an online cancellation button on basic-fit.com, and after the first 12 months a contract can be cancelled monthly. In the Netherlands and Belgium the membership becomes cancellable every 4 weeks after the first year.

These apply in most EU countries on top of whatever the service’s own terms say. The detail varies by country, so treat this as the floor, not the full picture.

• 14 days to change your mind. For most contracts you sign online you have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. For a digital service you start using straight away, the seller can ask you to give up that right at checkout, which is what the tick-box you clicked past was for, or charge you for the part you used.
• Auto-renewal has to be clear. A service that renews automatically has to tell you so before you sign up, including how long each renewal lasts and what it costs. Some countries go further: in Germany, a contract signed since March 2022 can only renew indefinitely if you can then cancel monthly, and notice periods are capped at one month. France, Austria, Romania and Sweden require a separate reminder before a renewal.
• A cancel button, in Germany. If you signed up online with a company selling in Germany, its website has to carry a clearly labelled cancellation button since July 2022, and cancelling has to be as easy as signing up was. Across the EU, an equivalent withdrawal function for the 14-day right became mandatory on 19 June 2026.
• Keep the confirmation. Cancel through the account page or the official form rather than by replying to a no-reply address, screenshot the confirmation, and keep the email. If a charge lands after that date, the confirmation is what gets it reversed.
