How to cancel RTL+

Sign in at plus.rtl.de, open Profile › Account › Mein Paket › Paket kündigen, or use the Verträge hier kündigen link without logging in. Notice period is 30 days from the day you cancel, so expect one more charge. A yearly plan ends at the end of its paid year, also with 30 days’ notice.

Choose Mein Paket, then Paket kündigen, and confirm the earliest possible date.
Note the end date on screen and keep the confirmation email. You stream in full until that date.
Without logging in: the Verträge hier kündigen link on plus.rtl.de opens the legally required cancellation form.

If you pay through Apple, Amazon or Telekom

Before you cancel

Notice period: 30 days from the day you cancel on the monthly plan; the subscription does not end at the next billing date but 30 days after the cancellation. The yearly plan can first be ended at the end of the paid year, with 30 days’ notice.
Refunds: No refund of the running period. The yearly plan is not refunded pro rata.
Worth knowing: Because of the 30-day notice, cancelling on the 10th usually means one more monthly payment. Cancel the moment you decide, not on the last day.
After the end date the account drops to the free, ad-supported RTL+ tier; your login and watchlist stay.
RTL+ Premium with HBO Max is one package; cancelling it ends both.
Music and audiobook add-ons are separate packages under Mein Paket, each with its own cancellation.

Your rights in the EU

RTL+ must offer a cancellation button on its site under § 312k BGB; the Verträge hier kündigen link is that button and works without a login. After a first yearly term, German law since March 2022 makes the contract terminable monthly.

These apply in most EU countries on top of whatever the service’s own terms say. The detail varies by country, so treat this as the floor, not the full picture.

14 days to change your mind. For most contracts you sign online you have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. For a digital service you start using straight away, the seller can ask you to give up that right at checkout, which is what the tick-box you clicked past was for, or charge you for the part you used.
Auto-renewal has to be clear. A service that renews automatically has to tell you so before you sign up, including how long each renewal lasts and what it costs. Some countries go further: in Germany, a contract signed since March 2022 can only renew indefinitely if you can then cancel monthly, and notice periods are capped at one month. France, Austria, Romania and Sweden require a separate reminder before a renewal.

If you signed up online with a company selling in Germany, its website has to carry a clearly labelled cancellation button since July 2022, and cancelling has to be as easy as signing up was. Across the EU, an equivalent withdrawal function for the 14-day right became mandatory on 19 June 2026.
Keep the confirmation. Cancel through the account page or the official form rather than by replying to a no-reply address, screenshot the confirmation, and keep the email. If a charge lands after that date, the confirmation is what gets it reversed.

Why am I still being charged after cancelling RTL+?

RTL+ has a 30-day notice period counted from the day you cancelled, so the subscription runs up to 30 days beyond the next billing date. The confirmation email states the exact end date.

Can I cancel RTL+ without logging in?

What happens to RTL+ after the subscription ends?

The account becomes the free tier with ads. Nothing is deleted; you can resubscribe from the same account.
