How to cancel Discord Nitro
In Discord: User Settings (gear) › Subscriptions › Cancel on the Nitro banner, skip the offers and confirm. Benefits last to the end of the paid period. Bought it in the iOS or Android app? Cancel in Apple’s or Google Play’s Subscriptions instead.
On desktop or in the browser
- Open Discord and click the gear icon next to your username to open User Settings.
- Open Subscriptions (under Billing Settings).
- Click Cancel on the Nitro or Nitro Basic banner, skip the retention offers, pick a reason and confirm.
- Benefits stay until the end of the current billing period.
If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app
- The Discord app cannot cancel a store purchase. iPhone: Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Discord Nitro › Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Play Store › profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions › Discord Nitro › Cancel subscription.
Before you cancel
- Notice period
- None. Cancel any time; Nitro runs to the end of the paid month or year.
- Refunds
- Discord considers a refund within a few days of purchase if the premium features have not been used, once per purchase type. The EU 14-day withdrawal right applies to a new direct purchase if unused. App-store purchases are refunded by the store.
- Worth knowing
- Custom emoji, larger uploads and the higher stream quality stop when Nitro ends; server boosts you assigned are removed too, which can drop a server’s level.
- Nitro gifted to you does not renew; only a subscription you pay for does.
- Mobile pricing is usually higher than desktop in the EU. If you resubscribe, do it on desktop.
Your rights in the EU
These apply in most EU countries on top of whatever the service’s own terms say. The detail varies by country, so treat this as the floor, not the full picture.
- 14 days to change your mind. For most contracts you sign online you have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. For a digital service you start using straight away, the seller can ask you to give up that right at checkout, which is what the tick-box you clicked past was for, or charge you for the part you used.
- Auto-renewal has to be clear. A service that renews automatically has to tell you so before you sign up, including how long each renewal lasts and what it costs. Some countries go further: in Germany, a contract signed since March 2022 can only renew indefinitely if you can then cancel monthly, and notice periods are capped at one month. France, Austria, Romania and Sweden require a separate reminder before a renewal.
- A cancel button, in Germany. If you signed up online with a company selling in Germany, its website has to carry a clearly labelled cancellation button since July 2022, and cancelling has to be as easy as signing up was. Across the EU, an equivalent withdrawal function for the 14-day right became mandatory on 19 June 2026.
- Keep the confirmation. Cancel through the account page or the official form rather than by replying to a no-reply address, screenshot the confirmation, and keep the email. If a charge lands after that date, the confirmation is what gets it reversed.

Do I keep Nitro until the end of the month after cancelling?
Yes. Cancelling stops the next charge; all benefits continue to the end of the period already paid for.
What happens to my server boosts?
Boosts included with Nitro are removed when it ends, so any server they were on loses that boost and possibly a level. Boosts bought separately are their own subscription.
Why does the Discord app not let me cancel?
Because Apple or Google billed the purchase. Cancel it in the store’s Subscriptions list; Discord reflects it shortly after.
