Food and meal kits
How to cancel HelloFresh
In your HelloFresh account: Settings › Meal kit information › Status › Cancel delivery (or the cancellation button in the site footer). Do it at least five days before the next delivery, by 23:59, or that box still ships. Pausing for up to eight weeks is the alternative.
On the web
- Sign in on the HelloFresh site for your country and open Settings (Kontoeinstellungen).
- Open Meal kit information (Informationen zur Kochbox), then Status, then Cancel delivery (Lieferung kündigen).
- HelloFresh offers to pause or skip instead; keep going if you want to cancel, give a reason and confirm.
- Check the delivery calendar: any box already confirmed before the cut-off still arrives and is charged. Keep the confirmation email.
In the app
- Open Settings and choose Cancel my order (Meine Bestellung kündigen).
- If the option is missing, open the site in your phone’s browser instead; in Germany the footer carries the legally required cancellation button.
Before you cancel
- Notice period
- Five days before your next scheduled delivery, by 23:59. The cut-off follows your personal delivery day, not the calendar week. Miss it and one more box ships.
- Refunds
- No refund for a box that has passed its cut-off; it is prepared and shipped. Nothing further is charged after cancellation.
- Worth knowing
- Skipping and pausing are not cancelling. A pause of up to eight weeks keeps the account and the plan, and deliveries resume automatically afterwards.
- Discount vouchers often spread across the first four boxes. Cancelling after box one costs nothing extra, but the later discounts are forfeited.
- The delivery calendar is the truth: a week shown as confirmed will be charged regardless of when you cancel.
- Cancelling the plan does not delete the account; reactivating later is one click and sometimes comes with a new-customer offer.
Your rights in the EU
HelloFresh sells online in Germany, so its site must carry a working cancellation button (§ 312k BGB); look in the footer. The 14-day withdrawal right does not cover perishable food already delivered.
These apply in most EU countries on top of whatever the service’s own terms say. The detail varies by country, so treat this as the floor, not the full picture.
- 14 days to change your mind. For most contracts you sign online you have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. For a digital service you start using straight away, the seller can ask you to give up that right at checkout, which is what the tick-box you clicked past was for, or charge you for the part you used.
- Auto-renewal has to be clear. A service that renews automatically has to tell you so before you sign up, including how long each renewal lasts and what it costs. Some countries go further: in Germany, a contract signed since March 2022 can only renew indefinitely if you can then cancel monthly, and notice periods are capped at one month. France, Austria, Romania and Sweden require a separate reminder before a renewal.
- A cancel button, in Germany. If you signed up online with a company selling in Germany, its website has to carry a clearly labelled cancellation button since July 2022, and cancelling has to be as easy as signing up was. Across the EU, an equivalent withdrawal function for the 14-day right became mandatory on 19 June 2026.
- Keep the confirmation. Cancel through the account page or the official form rather than by replying to a no-reply address, screenshot the confirmation, and keep the email. If a charge lands after that date, the confirmation is what gets it reversed.

Questions
I cancelled HelloFresh but a box still arrived.
It had passed the five-day cut-off before your cancellation, so it was already confirmed and charged. Check the delivery calendar for any further confirmed weeks; there should be none.
Should I pause or cancel?
Pause if you want boxes again within a couple of months: up to eight weeks, and it keeps your preferences. Cancel if you do not want deliveries resuming on their own.
How do I make sure nothing else is charged?
After cancelling, open the delivery calendar and confirm every upcoming week shows no box. The confirmation email plus an empty calendar is all the proof you need.
