How to cancel Amazon Prime

On the web

1. Sign in on the Amazon site you subscribed on (amazon.de, .fr, .it, .es, .nl and so on) and open Account & Lists › Your Prime Membership.
2. Choose Update, cancel and more, then End membership. Amazon will offer to remind you before renewal or switch you to a different plan; keep going.
3. Confirm the final End membership step. Amazon states the date your benefits stop, or offers an immediate end with a refund if you have not used them this period.
4. Check for the confirmation email and keep it.

Within 14 days of joining, or if you cannot find the option

1. In the EU you can withdraw from a new Prime membership within 14 days without a reason: use the withdrawal function under Your Account or contact Customer Service from the help pages.
2. If Prime came bundled through a mobile or internet provider, it has to be ended through that provider.

Before you cancel

Notice period

None. Cancel any time. You choose whether to stop now or keep benefits until the paid period ends.

Refunds

Full refund of the current period if nobody on the account has used a Prime benefit in it; otherwise a partial refund based on use, or the membership runs to the end of the paid period.

Worth knowing

• A free trial converts to a paid membership on its own. Ending it during the trial stops that; you can still use the trial until it expires.
• Prime Video, Prime Music, free delivery and Prime-only deals all end together; there is no keeping one of them.
• Amazon offers several off-ramps on the way out (remind me later, switch to annual). None of them cancel anything.

Your rights in the EU

These apply in most EU countries on top of whatever the service’s own terms say. The detail varies by country, so treat this as the floor, not the full picture.

• 14 days to change your mind. For most contracts you sign online you have 14 days to withdraw without giving a reason. For a digital service you start using straight away, the seller can ask you to give up that right at checkout, which is what the tick-box you clicked past was for, or charge you for the part you used.
• Auto-renewal has to be clear. A service that renews automatically has to tell you so before you sign up, including how long each renewal lasts and what it costs. Some countries go further: in Germany, a contract signed since March 2022 can only renew indefinitely if you can then cancel monthly, and notice periods are capped at one month. France, Austria, Romania and Sweden require a separate reminder before a renewal.
• A cancel button, in Germany. If you signed up online with a company selling in Germany, its website has to carry a clearly labelled cancellation button since July 2022, and cancelling has to be as easy as signing up was. Across the EU, an equivalent withdrawal function for the 14-day right became mandatory on 19 June 2026.
• Keep the confirmation. Cancel through the account page or the official form rather than by replying to a no-reply address, screenshot the confirmation, and keep the email. If a charge lands after that date, the confirmation is what gets it reversed.
